2016-The 10 skills you need to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution - Page 2 Empty Re: 2016-The 10 skills you need to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The core of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is intelligent and information. It leads to a high-flexible, humanized, digitizing production mode and service mode.

The emerging technologies influence the employment market. People have two different opinions regarding the change. Some people think optimistically. They think that although some workers will be replaced by robot, they still can be trained to find higher level jobs. And the new technologies will stimulate a new industrial prosperity. Meanwhile, on the contrary, some people think the new technologies will lead to mass unemployment, and thus result in a rising conflict of society and politics.

In my opinion, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing our life thoroughly. In the future, many low-technology and repeated jobs will be replaced by robots. The low-risky jobs are those need social skills and creativities, especially those jobs need to make decisions under uncertainty and put forward innovative ideas.

Echo with Kuang's comments that we should not be too nervous about it. Keep evolving by what we are currently doing. Participating in an MBA program would be one of the components of evolving process....

However, we should be alert that the changing of the request to skills is accelerating probably than we expected. No doubt that we need to pay attention on the skills illustrated in the article, which might be much more important than today i.e. creativity, but in a “VUCCA” society, the forecasting of important skills would also be uncertain in next coming years. Even if we developed some of the key skills, there is no guarantee that would ensure our capability under future circumstances.

By thinking beyond, the fundamental question here is if we can adapt in short period based on the unpredictable environment change. The answer to solve that question is the learning skill that how fast we can absorb new knowledge and change our mindset, so that these required skills could be developed in limited time window. The learning capability would determine who would take leading edge in "VUCCA" society.

With rapid technological development in today’s world, the 4th industrial revolution is coming to replace some skills and to promote new skills needed for employees.
People has to place a heavy emphasize on innovation in order to keep up with changes in market, technology and world, which refers to the term prof. mentioned in class “Red Queen”. Interpersonal skills are still important in future since they deal with people, which technologies cannot handle the negotiation and coordination at this stage.
The advanced technological achievements help to increase the efficiency of production of goods by applying robotic assembly line, which reduces workers in manufacturing sector. In addition, through the application of mass database, the jobs of data analysts and market consultants may be endangered. However, people can focus more on the work of thinking and creativity.
Whether we like or not, the new industrial revolution is coming. Therefore, I agree with statement at the end of the article that we have to be active in learning new skills for this new revolution.

Gradually, robots are replacing human workforce in more and more fields. How human keep our competitiveness and create values that only we can create? The article gives us a clue by listing out the top 10 skills in 2015 and 5 years later.

In 2015, we are still in information stage, people’s skills in information creating and processing are required, as listed, complex problem solving, critical thinking, quality control, judgement and decision making, active listening and creativity. On soft skills set, the majority of us are still working in a team, and because human labor are the main stream, skills in human interaction are still required: coordinating with others, people management, negotiation and service orientation.

When human plays less roles in the work fields, the ranking of skills requirement has shift. Individual ability is being most valued when we see the top 3 ranking - complex problem solving, critical thinking and creativity. People depends less on others with the help of advance technology, we can complete more and more jobs by our own.

I don’t think we are going to be replaced by robot or AI or others. Not because of Isaac Asimov’s “Three laws of robotics”, but the creativity of human beings. Creativity makes us different from others and gets ahead of ourselves. If there is a list of top 10 skills in 2025, I think “creativity” will appear again.

Just to share some information here with you guys.

I heard in a workshop this week that Artificial intelligence is developing faster than we thought. A humanlike robot called Sophia was engaged in an interview with host from CNBC this year. In that interview, she answered and asked questions with expressions just like a human being. With those designs and confirgurations, Sophia can even be engaged in a real panel discussion quite well.

In my perception, to better position in the fourth industrial revolution, we shall really focus on the capabitilies and skills that would differentiate us from aritifical intelligence robots.

You may find more information about Sophia via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0_DPi0PmF0

Skills that are considered important for work are changing. Although some position will be replaced by robots, creative jobs can’t. The Fourth Industrial Revolution brought not only change, but also opportunities. Skill retaining and further education are urgently needed to catch up with pace of revolution.

Complex problem solving should be basic ability for future 5 years of career searching, while critical thinking increase to 2nd position from the 4th of 2015.reavitivit up to 3rd from 10th in 2015, which means that future 5 years individual creativity and thinking should be the distinction from commons.
Communication and management keep relatively parallel become the new skill of future.
For me, I am pursuiting the new trend.

This article gives us an instruction of what kind of skills are most needed in the year 2020. It is worth to take it as reference. As the world is stepping into creative age, the use of brain is more valuable.
On the other hand, I think this ranking is based on the general probability. On individual level, I think we should find what we are really good at and interested in. Follow the paper without thinking is also blind. In conclusion, improve our adaptability to the uncertain world. Keep running.

From the article, we could find that the requirement of labor force to human has been replaced by to robot, that demand people to take charge of a more complicated work: thinking and creation, I prefer the most important skill would these two: analysis, which is input;creativity, which is the output.

Chenchen Guo wrote:Technology is always a double-edged sword for human beings. The advanced robotics, AI and machine learning brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution by 2020 will make us heavily dependent on machines that are intelligent enough to help us get rid of routine work. In the meantime, there will be a real fear that all jobs would be overtaken by machines. Comparing the top 10 skills in 2015 and that in 2020, complex problem solving, critical thinking and people management remain among the top 5 list. So we could learn that what makes us radically different from robots is the ability to deal with people. No matter how intelligent machines are, they are not able to provide the value of real human touch, which can only be fulfilled by human beings. Only if we keep enhancing our irreplaceable skills proactively, can we manipulate machines and benefit from the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

After reading the article and this comment, half of me slightly worries about the skills I have now might be out of date 5 years later. I have to pay attentions to developing new skills that are crucial in the near future, such are creativity, critical thinking, complex problem solving. As learning always is a life-long thing.
But another half of me sees opportunities, given that the robot time is coming soon. If robot is the trend, why don't we catch it? We can try to involve in robot manufacturing business to produce robot for industrial and even personal use. When almost everyone owns a personal robot assistant in the future, that is the time we can try to manufacture robot supplies, customized robot, luxury robot, robot maintaining stores, robot repairing shops... When there is a problem, there is an opportunity.

#Fourth Industrial Revolution
The furth industrial revolution brings a lot of skill-up requirement to our people. I believe it is the reason for our MBA students sitting in classroom and refreshing the mind with new knowledges and ideas. What we want to get from the refreshment is new way of solving present problems. Creativity will seemly become more and more important skills needed. That is to say, changes come to us faster than before and we have to adapt to the changes more quickly than before.
Interesting is, many of the changes are created intensionaly by our people, for instance, advanced robotics and autonomous transport, artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced materials and so on. These developments will transform the way we live. Some jobs will disappear, and some jobs that don’t even exist today will be commenplace.
What is certain is that the future workforce will need to skill-up frequently to keep pace and become creative thinker.

The world is changing fast. Every time, the industrial revolution brings the radical changes to us, at higher and higher speed. From this passage, it is known that the Top 10 skills in 2020 focus more on the comprehensive ability of innovation, such as “Complex Problem Solving”, “Critical Thinking” and “creativity”.
With the technology of robotics and artificial intelligence developing, most work of information gathering and processing would be assigned to computer or other digital equipment, which called intelligence workforce. And the main job of human workforce is to create and design the way that how to work efficient with the new technology and finally promote the social development.
The Industrial revolution may lift up the level of life and society, whereas, the emotional connection with people each other seems to be faded. People would have less opportunity to communicate with others, as “active listening” will disappear completely from the top 10,and “coordinating with others” fall out of Top 3.
We hope a fantastic world with booming development ,also we hope a warm society.

The quick development of technology make it is possible that more and more smart robots would be use in production and service area , and which would take away lots of job opportunities of human beings .

But I don’t think human would lost control of those trend and the creation of human beings would still play important roles in the future .

Firstly , The cost of smart robot is still expensive ,not all the enterprise would transfer from labor to the using of robots. The society would have enough time to adopt.

Secondly , The hand making product are not only the product itself ,but include other meaning which more than a physical product . It brings more value .And those value which could not be bring by machine or the so called smart robot .

Thirdly , The development of the smart robot would help to increase the abilities of cognitive of human beings . Those ten skills are the summaries of the cognitives itself. and would still be developed and be changed maybe .

The top 10 skills listed in the article is not the standard answer but it really inspire us to change ourselves and obtain new skills. We can no longer stay in our "comfort zone" which makes us feel familiar and at ease.
Creativity and innovation skill is a key skill to get along with the rapid changing era in which mobile internet, cloud technology and artificial intelligence generate huge influence both to our daily life and working circumstance.
"Change won't wait for us." Taking a proactive approach to the provision of the right skillset will help us to seize the opportunity in the fourth Industrial Revolution.

New technology that makes great breakthrough will always eliminate some kinds of jobs, and create new ones. In the past before machines emerged in the market, we need large number of farmers to work in land to produce enough food. After the machines get popular, not of farmers and workers lost their jobs, but if they have knowledges or skills of the machines, they can get a better new life. So under the prediction that AI might eliminate some of the jobs, we need to keep on learning, do something creative that AI cannot do, that is the future of us.

From the report, we can clearly see that creativity will become one of the top three skills workers will need. In fact, because of the education system, Chinese creativity is always been suppressed from the childhood, because of the examination request, most of the parents ask children to study no matter in the class or off class. In my opinion, playing is a good way to experience the childhood life, and playing can help children to create varieties of thoughts and ideas, and it is the base of creativity. As we all know, human resources are the base of developments of country. So, in my opinion, from the report of top skills in the future, all of us should to learn and improve the skills. What is more important, for our country, Chinese government should pay attention to the creativity and especially the education system should be reformed.

In the article, 10 skills you need to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution were described. In order to grasp those 10 skills, we need to know what kinds of skills will be valued most in 2020. Comparing with 2015, Critical thinking and creativity were increased their ranking in 2020. It is obvious that for most companies, they could survive only if they could have creative technology or products. In 13th five-year development plan, Chinese government also put innovations as the most important strategy. There is also much founding reserved to encourage the innovations and creativity from start-up companies. In addition, critical thinking will become more and more important. In 2020, most people should spend most time on critical thinking and innovative workshop rather than the routing works.
